Here is another interesting analysis by John Rosenthal of the Al-Masri case. Al-Masri, you may remember, is the poor Islamist chap who got caught on his way to Skopje, which he visited for vacation purposes, of all things.
John Rosenthal:
It (the article) brings the Masri saga up to date as compared to my earlier PJM article and finishes by posing some questions about what exactly Masri was doing when he left for Macedonia in Dec 2003. What’s odd about the German coverage, as opposed to the really pitiful American coverage, is that there really is enough information in the German media to start having serious doubts about this guy, but those doubts are rarely expressed. Instead, every new piece of information that comes out linking Masri to extremist milieus is spun – as in the Spiegel article I cite – as a reason for raising “suspicions” about possible German police cooperation with American authorities – as if a priori that would be a bad thing!
