Two years ago we got suddenly fed up from the anti-Israeli headlines and statements. We had enough of Palestinian propaganda and enough of that rather weak Israeli PR. That was the birth of the Israel Day. We organized in 2003 a pro Israel demo in Munich and noticed: Israel has
many more sympathies than assumed. 3.000 participants came and many prominent politicians. We organized in May 2004 an Israel day in Berlin, Munich and Bologna, with Israeli flags, dances, songs and much documentation. And 2005, on May 12, there will be an Israel Day for the third time, in 30 cities world-wide, in Berlin as well as in Munich, Miami, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Düsseldorf ,Toronto, Budapest, North Bend and Prague. Prepared from over 50 organizations and coordinated from ILI - the I Like Israel Movement.
30 cities are only the beginning. In 2006 the Israel day shall be celebrated in 60 cities all over the world and until 2010 in 200. Our goals? In Germany should each year 1 million people be waving the Israel flags in the streets. Once a year we want to send a strong signal to politicians, the media and organizations: Israel enjoys much sympathies and solidarity. Millions of people love Israel: because they take the Bible seriously or worked in a Kibbutz. Because they admire democracy and the impressive achievements of Israel, because they find the Negev romantic, have friends in Haifa, or are missing the beaches of Tel Aviv. And because they want a strong, democratic, Jewish state. There are many reasons to stay with Israel , but the most important is called: character. Whoever takes part in an Israel day, doesn't want politics be bought with petrodollars, opinions manipulated by the medias and facts bent by terror.
Hundredthousands of visitors will on May 12, 2005 see in the streets of 20 German cities Israeli dances, hear Israeli songs and enjoy Israeli specialities. And around 8 p.m. hundredthousand people will sing at the same time "Happy Birthday Israel". So loud that all our enemies hear it. And in other countries? We are waiting for you. For an Israel-Day in London and Paris, in Mexico and Rio, in San Francisco and in Rome. How does one say I LIKE Israel in Chinese, Indian, Japanese? How sounds Happy Birthday Israel in Greek, Spanish and Italian? We are expecting you and you can expect a professionally working team of ILI on your side.
