Responding to Ray's excellent posting "Stern's Gallery of Stereotypes" on anti-Americanism in Germany's leading magazine, Lou Minatti provides some hilarious German alternatives: "Let's have some fun with stereotypes."
Example: The '68er aging leftist
I like these ones better!

Heute wollte ich einen scheinbar harmlosen Aufklärungsbeitrag der Onlineausgabe des Spiegels über korrektes Formulieren von E-Mails lesen und was springt einem da ins Auge? Subversiver Antiamerikanismus vom Feinsten.

Wer belehrt denn hier wen?

Dunno, the "68er" looks a bit like the great mastering engineer Steve Hoffman.

Yeah, but the meaning of the idiotic statement hasn't changed much. I think this is the 3rd time this month that SPON has been influenced to make changes in their articles because of anti-american comments. Thanks, of course, to "Medienkritik" and their readers.
Perhaps it's SPON that needs a "penetrante Form der Dauer-Belehrung"--like lots of "no more anti-american propaganda" e-mails!

Very funny post. I really enjoyed it especially the one with socks. As an American who lived in Germany for 8 years (in the Army) and still visit my German wifes family, I always wondered what style represents a typical German. I have a hobby of people watching and I pride my self on being able to determine someone's nationality based on the style of clothes. The dark socks with sandals and shorts is always a dead give-away that the person is German. I live in Arizona now and I can spot them from a mile away at the tourist spots.
