The Sueddeutsche Zeitung After Another SPD Election Disaster: Not Schroeder, But Blair Under Pressure and on the Way Out…

Just one day after another historic loss for the SPD, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung is desperately maneuvering and flailing to distract the German people’s attention from the failing SPD-Green government any way it can.

And what better way to do that than to cart out the time-tested "Tony Blair is Under Pressure” headline. Not enough? OK, throw in a biased tirade against Blair writing him off politically in the form of a commentary. Don’t want to leave out Bush? No problem, just post another article about how Karl Rove “invented” the President as a part of the ongoing campaign to convince readers that Bush is too stupid to think or act for himself and is nothing more than a marionette controlled by Cheney and Rove. Forgot Iraq? Put in the standard doom and death piece and don’t forget the picture of the Iraqi child crying in horror on the homepage. Can’t completely ignore domestic events? OK, add an article about how the CDU is divided and how members are arguing amongst themselves. And whatever you do: Downplay the fact that the SPD suffered another historic defeat and hasn’t won an election in years.

Yes indeed. The SZ is desperate…and today they are resorting to their full arsenal of bias to hold fast to their unabashed and downright shameless, brown-nosing, government-friendly, SPD-friendly course. In other countries the media would have rightfully hounded the imploding SPD with questions after each of the horrific election losses the party has suffered without letup since 2002, but not in Germany. In a less friendly media environment, the SPD may well have already been history. But media outlets like SPIEGEL, STERN and SZ are proving with each passing day that they would rather not make the SPD’s messy collapse a big issue and that they are staunch, partisan advocates of their friends in the government. Objective journalists need not apply...

Don't underestimate the readers. SPD is still losing, in fact the uncritical, helping hand coverage is probably a big factor in the continuing implosion of the SPD. The padded pillows of media coverage, help the SPD in it's delusional thinking, that everything is still OK and they won't do anything to make the necessary changes. The padded media environment means that the SPD doesn't ever learn how to make arguments to persuade the public. Everyone knows the SPD is right, the public is just too stupid to realize this.

It's the same here with the Democrats. The Democrats haven't made an argument for years, all they do is character assassination, attempted scandal-mongering, lies and insult the intelligence of the voters. Just watch how well John Kerry does with this in November.

Islamismus und Antisemitismus in Deutschland

Die Sprache der Internetseite cihadnet.com ist türkisch. "Schuld sind Amerika und seine Sponsoren" steht auf einem Button. Ein Klick - und man empfängt dynamisch-martialische Trommelmusik. Dazu öffnen sich in rhythmischem Wechsel Bilder. Sie zeigen Kriegsopfer, vermutlich aus dem Irak und aus Palästina. - Verletzte, Frauen und Kinder, Fliehende, Gefangene. Der Bilderwechsel wird unterbrochen von Kopien kleiner Markenembleme: Coca-Cola, Marlboro, Macdonalds, Mobil Oil, Milka. "Das sind Schweine, die man nicht mästen soll", rät eine Textsequenz. Eine andere schärft dem Leser ein, derartige Waren nicht zu konsumieren, weil sie als Bombe zurückkehren könnten.

Ein Klick weiter - die Gesichter von George Bush und Ariel Sharon. Beide mit Rotstift fett durchgestrichen. "Kafir"- Ungläubiger - hat jemand darüber gekritzelt. Während hinter den Köpfen von Bush und Sharon ein Maschinengewehr heraufzieht, brennt gegenüber der Davidstern in der US-Flagge und führt zu einer Boykottliste, auf der Firmen verzeichnet sind, die angeblich Israel unterstützen. Dann erscheint eine Koransure:

Bekämpfet sie! Allah wird sie strafen durch eure Hände und sie mit Schmach bedecken. Er wird euch Sieg über sie verleihen und wird heilen die Herzen eines gläubigen Volks!

Dass man über die Homepage der türkischen Gotteskrieger zu den Webseiten von Hizbollah, Hamas und Al Quaida gelangt, wundert dann kaum noch. Wie unter einem Brennglas verdichtet zeigt diese Internet-Seite, mit welchen Versatzstücken Islamisten ihre antisemitische Ideologie ausrüsten:

Sie präsentieren antijüdische Standpunkte als die einzig richtige Antwort auf Israels Verhalten im Palästina-Konflikt.
Sie legitimieren ihre Aufrufe zur Gewalt mit dem Koran.
Sie beschimpfen die Juden als Schweine oder Affen.
Sie bezeichnen die USA als Unterstützer einer jüdischen Weltverschwörung.

Wer glaubt, dass derartige antisemitische Stereotypen sich wohl auf einer Internetseite türkischer Islamisten finden lassen, aber nicht in der bundesdeutschen Wirklichkeit, der täuscht sich. Nach Auffassung von Verfassungsschützer Herbert Landolin Müller ist auch in Deutschland die Kritik an Israel ein Eingangstor zu antisemitischen Ressentiments. "Islamisten in der Bundesrepublik verkleiden ihren Antisemitismus häufig als Antizionismus", sagt der Islamwissenschaftler. ...
