The murder of Jack Hensley by our Islamo-Fascist enemies should provide us even greater motivation to defeat the barbaric enemy that attacked us on September 11. Jack Hensley was, by all accounts, a loving, caring individual. The world needs more Jack Hensley's. You can help support the Hensley family and Jack's daughter Sara here.
Jack Hensley: A Good Man Kidnapped and Executed While Trying to Help Others in Iraq
Despite Tragedy Some Good News
Yet another vastly under-reported victory for the US and Iraq: Sheik Abu Anas al-Shami, 35, the spiritual leader of Abu Musad al-Zarqawi's Tawhid and Jihad terrorist group, which has been behind the kidnappings, executions and bombings of innocent people, was killed in a U.S. airstrike several days ago in a Baghdad suburb. The US military hit a car full of terrorists including al-Shami with a rocket, killing them all. Bravo!
Good News: One Less Islamo-Fascist Pig

Good link, ari, thank you.
Rumsfeld said:
"It is a serious collection of people who are determined to kill innocent men, women and children, and attack the state system that exists in this globe," Rumsfeld continued. "And it's the job of civil societies all across the globe to do everything humanly possible to see that they're not able to kill innocent men, women and children."
It is hard for the families of the hostages but they should not be in the media and ask for mercy. They should not ask Blair or Bush or ... to do what the terrorists want. The families have to be strong and have to understand that there is more to save than this single life. This is the price we have to pay to win this battle.
When the terrorists would use biological or chemical weapons with the help of the two women which the family of the British hostage wants to be freed, then more people get killed sooner or later. We cannot do what the terrorists want. We can only try to avoid that they take hostages. But when it happened, there can be only one answer: deep sadness for the victims but no dialog with terrorists.
We have to be strong and we all should want that our governments don't talk to terrorists. This will save more lives.
If the terrorists would let this hostage free, then they kill other innocent people and more than one.
That is how terror works. The family of Schleyer in Germany had to bear this cruel reality.

Katie Couric to Beheading Kin: Do You Support War Now?
America's morning TV sweetheart, Katie Couric, wasted no time on Wednesday trying to turn the beheading of Americans in Iraq into political ammunition - asking the brother of executed hostage Jack Hensley if he still supported the war.
"Well, how do you feel about the war in Iraq at this point?" the "Today" host asked Ty Hensley, after having him describe the devastating impact of his brother's murder just hours before.
Story Continues Below
Much to Couric's chagrin, however, Hensley didn't rise to the bait. Instead he told "Today":
"At this point, I want our servicemen, I want them to come back alive. But I don't want - and I believe - my brother's told me about so many good people in Iraq. I want to continue to try to help these people to get on their feet."
"This is something that has happened to the United States - they've experienced recently," Hensley continued. "However, the Iraqi people have been having these things going on for hundreds of years by these evil people."

Why is it possible that our media divulgate the video massages of terrorists, that our media do - willy-nilly - the propaganda job of our foes, that our media display moments of our defeat or at least weakness, when we are helpless to help and free those who are threatened to be beheaded by our coward ennemies? Why is it possible that our media work against us, our citizenry and our justified interests? Each triumph of terrorism is reported, but when the mass murderers are eventually defeated we get merely no information! Media should be at least neutral, not indifferent nor even hostile to our values we do have to defend against rogue nations and evil cranks! There is no need to show a victim`s submission and humiliation when begging for mercy sitting on the floor in front of his assassins: Decent, caring persons communicating, even championing the aims of terrorists in order to save their lives should not be deprived of their moral dignity and privacy by our media! Some brief information about crimes as kidnapping would suffice, would at least be sufficient for us, of course not for terrorists.
Our media are, in fact, part of our war against terrorism: But should we allow them to be partisans or partners of our evil ennemies?

@ralph
You poignant questions hit at the heart of the matter.
I find it so strange that a media whose charter exits only because of our values, also provides "oxygen to the terrorists" who would otherwise dismantle that same media if their victory was secured. But in the age of the internet and MTV, such murders can be easily evaporate in the vapour of moral relativism: a click to the next program. In such a scenario the media will cannibalise itself for short-term gain to a short-attention-span audience.
Furthermore, the media will tell you that, “they’re just giving what people want.” However, the media really does is to exploit voyeuristic human tendencies which irreversibly capture their audience. This gives rise to reality TV, MTV and all of the other junk. Why ready, question, interact, debate, when you can be told what to think?

The media circus surrounding the hostages who were taken from their home, after their Iraqi guards abandoned them, is disgusting. The families of two of the hostages have been shown pleading for the lives of their loved ones. It is a great story for the media, they can sell more air time, more newspapers and magazines. It is good for their income, but bad for the stability of the Western world. The two American hostages have already been killed, at the time of this posting, the British hostage is still alive.
There has been no thought that the terrorists love this media coverage, it helps to increase the feeling of helplessness within our Western culture. This pleading for lives is a sign of weakness to them. The terrorists had no other plan than to use these wonderful men as pawns in their sick show of terror. The terrorists want only to create an atmosphere of self doubt in our society and the news medias are helping them to accomplish their goal. With so much media coverage, the terrorists are encouraged to do more and more killings, kidnappings and bombings. With television news, such as CNN, playing the videos of the families over and over again and of every terrorist event that they can get their cameras to, they support the terrorists. Without the media, terrorism would not have such a strong impact. Only throught the media can they express their vile demands and then show us the consequences when these demands are not met.
The lives of these men, when they are taken are not killings of honor as the terrorists insist. They are pure criminal deeds and must be seen as such. The Islamic extremists are hiding behind the Islamic faith, whose leaders silently sit on the sidelines and say nothing against the terrorists. They take no action to decrease the terror. They are silent partners in these terrorist organizations.
As citizens of the world, we have to pressure all of our government and religious leaders to take stronger action against the silent Islamic leaders all over the world. They must be pressed to take the appropriate action to avert an eventual religious war, Christianity against Islam. The longer they remain silent (the Islamic leaders) regarding acts of terrorism made in their names, the greater the risk of a monumental rift forming that will be of biblical proportions. Additionally, we have to pressure the media to decrease the coverage given to terrorist acts. This may mean that we have to sacrifice a little free speech. When the press misuses free speech, for with freedom of speech, there is also a responsibilty to the public to do what is right, to do what is moral and to do what is needed to help protect the citizens who rely on them. The media is a powerful tool, and when this tool is being used in a distructive manner such as with the war on terror, then some controls are necessary. These controls can be voluntary or if after a period of time when they do not comply, then strong government action is necessary. This has been instituted during past wars and may be needed now. When the war on terror is over, then these controls can be removed, as they were in the past when the wars were over.
The news media should be ashamed of what they are doing with the war on terror. What I have watched on CNN, Sky News, BBC and all of the German news reports is disgusting. These news outlets have crossed the line of decency and morality in their bids to be the most sensational news reporting agencies. I have no respect for any of them. As far as I am concerned, they should be shut down, for they clearly aid and abet the terrorists around the world. They themselves, have become media terrorists and no longer serve the public interest. I often wonder if the reporters, news managers and media owners can sleep at night, as they clearly have no scruples.
United we stand, divided we fall!

I just finished the spanish version of the latest book from Oriana Fallaci - La Fuerza de la Razón - it gives you a lot of hints about the
reasons for the media coverage of the islamic terrorism.
