Sandra Maischberger is considered Germany's top journalist. In her TV show "Maischberger", she regularly interviews politicians and experts on current issues. Despite a clearly left-oriented vein, that flows through Maischberger's interviews, she was honored with several awards, among them the Hanns-Joachim-Friedrich award, for her journalistic performance. Hmmm...let me reword this: Because of a clearly left-oriented vein that flows through Maischberger's interviews,...
In this interview on 5.5.2004, with Prof. Wolffsohn, the left, and anti-American bias of her questioning is clear as day:
The liberators resemble more and more the oppressors. One has to think that, after seeing and learning, that the US military tortures in Iraq, and of all places in Saddam Hussein's torture prison. ...if what we hear about this is true, then it is a fact that the order was possibly given, for example, by secret service personell in Iraq. In that case, not just are these individual cases, or failures of barbaric nature, but it is a deliberate method to use torture to, for example, gain intelligence!
...Lets stay with the regulations: who constructs these, Mr. Professor Wolffsohn, mustn't one then impute that the US government orders torture? Obviously systematically, if we are to believe US Senator Edward Kennedy, who states that if there already exist pictures of such events, then it must be just the tip of the iceberg.
Bush treated himself to Guantanamo. Why should he not afford himself the continuation of Guantanamo in Iraq?
What Maischberger treats herself to, would lead to serious professional consequences with any tv-network, which values quality journalism.
The esteem Maischberger enjoys in the German media, points to the value placed on anti-Americanism in the German media.
Update: Gregory made me aware of this fact sheet on Senator Ted Kennedy, who is held in such high regard by Maischberger. Talking of "tip of the iceberg"...
