AP Germany: Biased Agenda

The news agency AP employs a sophisticated international news strategy, ideally adapted to the needs and preferences of its local customers. In particular, the anti-Sharon, anti-Bush bias of the German media is given full consideration.

The biased agenda of AP Germany is in full display in this headline, referring to a speech by Yassir Arafat broadcast live on Palestinian television:

Compare this to the headline of AP's English version, referring to the same speech:

Arafat Makes Call to 'Terrorize' Enemy

Even the Palestine National Authority's press center makes no attempt to identify a "willingness to peace" in Arafat's speech:

Arafat: Palestinian Right of Return a Sacred, Inalienable Right

... Arafat repeatedly called on the Palestinian people to be steadfast in their struggle against the Israeli occupation ... President Arafat said, in a speech broadcast live on Palestine television, "... It is possible to fight for this homeland and the holy places, and return to them, believing in the justice of our cause.”

The word "peace" doesn't appear once in the release of the Palestine National Authority.

AP Germany's headline was echoed in the German media (1, 2, 3), while AP's English version was used by US media.

To think that AP Germany's customers even have to pay for this kind of biased reporting...

Yesterday's incident in Rafah, in which some PLO Arabs were killed, has highlighted the anti-Israel bias existing in the media today, as well as the lies being disseminated by the PLO Arabs.

When the incident was first reported, AP reported that 20 PLO Arabs were killed. This number was soon cut to 10. Why was this so? Because the media were relying on the PLO Arab version, which was untruthful. Consider the first version, in which 20 people were said to have been killed:

No Comment, offensichtlich haben Sie nicht verstanden, daß ich auf einen anderen weblog hingewiesen habe, indem ich die ersten beiden Sätze von dort kopiert habe, wie ich es des öfteren mache. Dadurch möchte ich einen Hinweis geben, worum es geht. Wenn Sie sich die Mühe machten, diese website einmal anzuklicken, stoßen Sie auf viele Informationen. Sie müssen die Meinung ja nicht teilen, aber ich persönlich fand die Informationen erhellend und wollte dies mit anderen und vielleicht auch mit Ihnen teilen. Ihre Bemerkung an mich zeigt mir, daß Sie dem Link nicht gefolgt sind, sonst wären Sie nicht diesem Irrtum erlegen. Schauen Sie doch einfach mal nach. Tatsache ist allerdings, daß seit dem Massakervorwurf in Dschenin allen Menschen klar sein sollte, daß es eine Gruppe von Palästinenser darauf angelegt hat, die Welt zu manipulieren, um ihr Ziel, die Vernichtung Israels, zu erreichen. Wenn also wieder das Wort Massaker erschallt, wenn 8 Menschen getötet worden sind, wobei noch nicht einmal klar war, ob nicht durch eigenes explosives Material, dann müßte doch jeder wahrheitsliebende und gerechte Mensch auf dieser Welt ein Interesse haben, die Wahrheit zu erfahren. Leichenzählen - das tut die palästinensische Seite. Es hieß sofort 40!!! Wenn es dann weniger sind, sogar nur 8, dann wundert es mich, daß Sie das gar nicht interessiert. Die Journalisten und die Weltöffentlichkeit sollten sich nicht von einer Seite zum Idioten machen lassen, so wie es seit einigen Jahren geschieht. Dschenin war KEIN Massaker, aber es ging um die Welt und viele glauben es bis heute oder wollen es glauben.

This does not happen only in Germany. The AP has an agenda in the US too. It is becoming more like the rest of Big Media a discredited source.

Much like CK and his views. They are slanted and spun to fit a viewpoint. Much like his liberation claim...
